Therapy Investment & Insurance
I believe therapy should be accessible AND sustainable. I accept most major insurance plans, offer private pay options, and work with you to make this investment in your healing possible.
The short version: Insurance-based sessions cost your copay/coinsurance (typically $0-$71 depending on plan). Private pay sessions are $200. Initial sessions are $250.
Session Fees
- Initial Intake Session (53+ min): $250
- Individual Therapy (53+ min): $200
- Couples / Family Therapy (53+ min): $250
HSA/FSA cards accepted • Superbills provided for out-of-network reimbursement
In-Network Insurance
I'm in-network with the following commercial insurance plans for both in-person and telehealth sessions:
- Aetna
- AmeriHealth (including NJ plans)
- Anthem BCBS
- Beacon Health Options
- Blue Cross Blue Shield / Capital Blue / Horizon / Highmark / Independence
- Cigna
- Emblem Health (Non-HMO)
- Geisinger (Commercial)
- Keystone Health Plan East
- Magellan (Commercial)
- MVP (Commercial Non-HMO)
- New York State Empire Plan
- United Healthcare
- Value Options (Non-HMO)
Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs): I'm in-network with several EAP providers. If your employer offers an EAP benefit, contact me to verify if I'm in your network.
Note: This list is updated regularly but may not be comprehensive. Insurance networks change frequently. Always verify your specific plan before booking to ensure current network status.
📞 Before Your First Session: Verify Your Benefits
It's your responsibility to contact your insurance company to verify your mental health benefits before booking. This ensures you have accurate information about your coverage and creates a paper trail if there are any billing disputes later.
Questions to ask your insurance company:
- Is Felicia Moore, LPC/Youniversal Counseling, LLC in-network for outpatient mental health or behavioral health?
- Individual NPI: 1275078180
- Group NPI: 1952836561
- (Some insurances use the individual NPI, some use the group NPI)
- What is my copay or coinsurance for therapy sessions?
- Have I met my deductible? If not, what is my remaining deductible?
- How many therapy sessions are covered per year?
- Is telehealth covered the same as in-person?
- Do I need pre-authorization or a referral?
I will also verify your benefits on my end, but insurance companies are legally bound to what they tell YOU as the policyholder. Having this information from them directly protects both of us.
What you'll likely pay (after verification):
- If you've met your deductible: Usually just your copay (often $0-$40 per session)
- If you haven't met your deductible: You'll pay the contracted rate until deductible is met (typically $71-$120 per session depending on insurance)
- After deductible is met: Your coinsurance applies (usually 0-20% of session cost)
*I am currently not in-network with Medicare or Medicaid.
Don't see your insurance listed or have questions after verifying? Email billing@youniversalcounseling.com or call 610-601-5950.
Out-of-Network Clients
If I'm not in-network with your provider, you may still be eligible for reimbursement through your out-of-network benefits. I provide detailed superbills you can submit to your insurance for partial reimbursement.
Before booking, check with your insurer and ask:
- Do I have out-of-network mental health coverage?
- Is telehealth eligible?
- What percentage is reimbursed?
- Is a superbill accepted?
- Do I need pre-authorization?
Why Private Pay Might Be Right for You
Sometimes insurance isn't the right fit. Private pay gives you full control:
- Complete confidentiality – No diagnosis required, no insurance records
- Flexible scheduling – Not limited by insurance session limits
- Integrative services – Full freedom to use tarot, shadow work, spiritual counseling without insurance restrictions
- No pre-authorization needed – Start immediately
Payment & Policies
- Payment methods: Credit/debit cards, HSA/FSA cards, cash, or check
- When payment is due: At time of service (credit card kept securely on file)
- Cancellation policy: 48-hour notice required. Late cancellations or no-shows are charged at the full session rate.
- Exceptions: Genuine emergencies or unexpected crises. Just communicate with me and we'll work it out.
Good Faith Estimate
Under federal law, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" of expected costs for healthcare services if you're uninsured or not using insurance.
Most clients attend therapy for:
- Short-term focused work: 8-12 sessions ($1,600-$2,400)
- Moderate support: 20-30 sessions ($4,000-$6,000)
- Long-term depth work: 40+ sessions (ongoing investment)
These are estimates only. Your actual therapy length depends on your goals, progress, and needs. I'll provide a personalized estimate before we begin.
Sliding Scale Availability
I reserve a limited number of sliding scale slots for clients experiencing financial hardship. Sliding scale rates are determined on a case-by-case basis based on income and circumstances.
To request sliding scale: Email billing@youniversalcounseling.com with a brief explanation of your situation. Sliding scale spots are limited and offered on a first-come basis.
The Real Talk About Investment
Therapy costs what it does because you're paying for my clinical expertise, your individualized care, treatment planning, case coordination when needed, and accessible support between sessions.
Therapy is an investment in yourself. Not a luxury, not an indulgence—an investment in your mental health, your relationships, your future.
If money is the only thing standing between you and getting help, talk to me. We'll find a way.
