Getting Started

What can I expect in my first session?

In your first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and explore what brought you to counseling. We'll discuss your goals, experiences, and begin creating a personalized treatment plan that fits your unique needs.

This is also a great opportunity for you to get a feel for me and determine if we're a good fit. There's no pressure — just connection and the beginning of your therapeutic journey.

Who do you work with?

I work with adolescents and adults ages 14 and older. My areas of expertise include anxiety and stress, depression, life transitions, self-worth, gender identity, and LGBTQIA+ concerns.

My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, 420-friendly, and inclusive of all neurotypes and identities. If you've felt like too much — or not enough — for other therapy spaces, this one was built for you.

Are you able to diagnose your clients?

Yes. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania, I am qualified to provide mental health diagnoses. LPCs have completed extensive graduate-level training in psychological assessment, diagnostic criteria, and evidence-based treatment approaches.

I can conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, utilize standardized diagnostic tools, and provide diagnoses according to the DSM-5-TR criteria. This allows me to work with insurance companies, develop targeted treatment plans, and ensure you receive the most appropriate care for your specific needs.

Session Details

How long do appointments last?

Standard therapy sessions are 55 minutes long. Extended sessions can be arranged depending on your specific needs — particularly helpful for complex trauma work or intensive therapeutic sessions.

How often will we meet?

Initially, I recommend meeting weekly to build rapport and maintain therapeutic momentum. As you progress, we can adjust to biweekly sessions when appropriate. Consistent appointments are important for making meaningful progress — and your healing deserves that consistency.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes! Telehealth sessions are available for all Pennsylvania residents and are fully integrated with your client portal. A secure link will be sent to you — you simply click when it's time for your session to begin.

Virtual sessions are great for convenience, bad weather days, or when life just doesn't cooperate. Please note that not all insurance plans cover telehealth the same way as in-person, so it's worth checking with your provider.

🔮

Treatment Approaches

Do you offer EMDR?

Yes! I'm trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) — an evidence-based therapy that's particularly effective for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, and other distressing life experiences.

EMDR helps your brain process and integrate traumatic memories in a way that reduces their emotional impact. During sessions, you'll focus on specific memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements), which activates your brain's natural healing process. Many clients find significant relief in fewer sessions than traditional talk therapy alone.

How do tarot, shadow work, and dream interpretation fit into therapy?

These are optional therapeutic tools — never required, always client-directed. When you're open to it, they can help access your unconscious mind and promote deeper self-understanding in ways that traditional talk therapy sometimes can't reach.

Tarot in therapy isn't about predicting your future — it's about illuminating patterns in your present, exploring different perspectives, and tapping into your own inner wisdom. Shadow work is Jungian-inspired depth work for integrating the hidden or rejected parts of yourself. Dream analysis uses the symbolic language your unconscious mind already speaks.

Your spirituality is a resource, not a symptom. We use it when it serves you.

Pricing & Insurance

What insurances do you take?

I accept most major commercial insurance plans including Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, Geisinger, AmeriHealth, and more. Visit the Rates & Insurance page for the full list and current rates.

I always recommend contacting your insurance company directly to confirm your specific coverage and benefits before booking.

Do you work with out-of-network insurance?

Yes. If I'm not in-network with your plan, you may still have out-of-network benefits that allow partial reimbursement. I provide detailed superbills you can submit directly to your insurer — many clients get 40–80% back depending on their plan.

Check out the cost estimator on the Rates page to see what your monthly investment might look like.

📋

Policies & Procedures

What is your cancellation policy?

48-hour notice is required to cancel or reschedule — you can do this directly through your client portal. Late cancellations may incur a fee unless it's a genuine emergency. Life happens, and I get that — just communicate with me and we'll work it out.

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, therapy is confidential. Pennsylvania law protects the confidentiality of communication between clients and licensed mental health professionals. Nothing is disclosed without your written consent.

There are legal exceptions: suspected child or elder abuse, if you threaten serious harm to another person, or if you express intent to harm yourself. In those cases, I'm required to take appropriate protective action — and I'd always talk with you about that first whenever possible.

Do you prescribe medications?

No — as an LPC, I cannot prescribe medications. For psychiatric medications, you'd need to consult with a psychiatrist or your primary care physician. That said, I can coordinate care with your medical providers and, with your consent, communicate with your prescribing doctor to ensure your treatment is integrated and cohesive.

Specialized Services

Do you provide letters for HRT and/or Gender Confirmation Surgery?

Yes! I provide letters for both Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) and Gender Confirmation Surgery, following the standards set by WPATH (World Professional Association for Transgender Health).

The process involves a comprehensive evaluation session, after which I'll draft your letter and send it to you for review and approval before it's finalized. You deserve this support — and I'm glad to provide it.

Do you write letters for Emotional Support Animals?

At this time I don't provide ESA letters, as this requires specialized training I haven't completed. I can, however, provide referrals to qualified professionals who do offer this service.

Fun Questions
(Because therapy can be lighthearted too)

Are you part of a cult?

Ha! No, I am not part of a cult. I'm just a licensed therapist who appreciates the wisdom found in various spiritual and introspective practices. My use of tools like tarot and shadow work comes from a psychological perspective — they're different ways to explore your inner world and promote self-awareness.

I believe healing can happen through many pathways, and sometimes the most profound insights come from unexpected places. My practice is grounded in evidence-based therapy, professional ethics, and your individual goals. No robes or mysterious rituals required. 🔮

Do I need to bring my own crystals to sessions?

Absolutely not required — but feel free to bring whatever makes you feel grounded and comfortable! Some clients love having their favorite crystals, journal, or comfort items with them. Whether that's rose quartz, your emotional support water bottle, or just your authentic self — all are welcome here.

The most important thing you can bring is an open mind and willingness to explore your inner landscape. ✨

Can you read my tarot cards and tell me my future?

While I do read tarot and appreciate their divination aspects in my personal practice, that's not how I use them in our sessions. In therapy, tarot serves as a psychological tool for self-reflection and accessing unconscious material — much like Carl Jung used archetypal symbols to explore the deeper psyche.

Instead of predicting your future, we use the cards to illuminate patterns in your present, explore different perspectives on challenges, and tap into your own inner wisdom. Think of it as a creative way to have a conversation with your subconscious. The real magic? Discovering the insights that were already within you. 🃏

Will you hex my ex?

While I appreciate the confidence in my mystical abilities, hexing falls firmly outside my scope of practice as a licensed therapist.

What I CAN offer is something far more powerful: helping you process those feelings, set healthy boundaries, and cultivate the kind of inner strength that makes you absolutely magnetic to the right people. Trust me — living your best life is the ultimate magic. And considerably more professionally ethical. 🌙

Limitations & Good to Know

Are there any clients or issues you don't work with?

Due to Pennsylvania licensing laws, I can only provide services to residents of states where I hold a license, or those able to travel to Pennsylvania for in-person sessions. I work with clients ages 14 and older.

I don't currently work with individuals whose primary presenting concern is active addiction, eating disorders, or severe psychotic disorders such as schizophrenia — these require specialized psychiatric care I'm not trained to provide. I'm happy to provide referrals for any of these areas.

How long does therapy typically take?

It genuinely varies. Some clients find meaningful relief in a few months. Others benefit from longer-term depth work. We'll regularly review your progress and adjust our approach as needed — you're always in control of your therapeutic journey.

How do we know when it's time to end therapy?

The decision to end therapy is always collaborative. Some signs it might be time to transition: feeling equipped with coping strategies, noticing significant improvement in your symptoms, achieving the goals we set together, or simply feeling ready to navigate life independently.

We'll always have a formal termination session to process your growth, celebrate your progress, and create a plan for maintaining your wellbeing. And my door is always open for a tune-up session when life throws you something new.

What if I need crisis support between sessions?

If you're experiencing a mental health crisis outside of session hours, please contact emergency services (911), go to your nearest emergency room, or call or text the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

For non-urgent matters between sessions, you can reach out through your client portal. Response times may vary, but I do my best to stay accessible to the folx I work with.
